Reflection 6

I learned a lot about lesson preparation and how to align everything to a standard on Wednesday and Friday. To understand that everything should work together to achieve the finest possible result since else, something will be off for your lesson. The picture of the train remained with me and will benefit me forever since it links to my brain with the term alignment. It gives forth the ideal impression of what it implies for lesson planning. Teachers must link their standards with their aims while developing objectives. They must also link this with the evaluation and instructional activities. So they're all connected to each other and work together!

Another thing I learned was about backward design starting with identifying desired results by looking at big ideas and skills. Then moving on to the second step determining acceptable evidence by creating a culminating assessment task. Lastly, ending with planning learning experiences and instruction by having learning events. I thought this was an interesting method because it goes backward but I feel like I understand this better. I feel comfortable with it because you are starting at the end so you know where you are supposed to end instead of figuring it out at the end.

Lastly, something I took away from this past week was knowing that there are more than just exit tickets for assessments. I know I had exit tickets in my math lesson plan because I felt like that is something that we are supposed to do so, learning that we are allowed to do something different was great. I was able to put think-pair-share in my lesson plan to help students interact with each other. Also, it also gives me time to assess them without being right next to them asking so many questions. Overall, having that class time was great to look over our lesson plans because I got to talk it out with my peers and get great feedback.
